Our very own (and owner of the Heart, Home, and Community building itself) Shelley Hoffman was awarded the New York Main Street Grant today! We here not just at HHC, but those within the Baldwinsville community are so incredibly proud for all of the hard work, time, and dedication that Shelley has put into giving back to her community!
What does the New York Main Street Grant mean to Baldwinsville? The NYMS (New York Main Street) grant is available to not-for-profit corporations that have been providing services to their community for at least one year. It provides, “financial resources and technical assistances to these businesses that are located on a New York “main street”, that are committed to revitalizing and restoring the historic downtown, mixed-use neighborhood commercial districts, and village centers”, according to the Homes and Community Renewal webpage on the New York government website.
Eligible targeted areas must include buildings that show physical deterioration/decay, has many vacant residential or commercial units, and more than 50% of the residents are considered low income. What this means to our community here in Baldwinsville is that it can help to maximize the growth potential of the area for businesses to come here, or more people working here, OR having more residence in general. Therefore, this would increase the investment potential and growth of Baldwinsville, making it more profitable to live and work here.
This is such a huge and positive impact or our community as a whole! This would mean more families would be willing to live and grow their families here, as well as keep their business local. Having this New York Main Street Grant that Shelley Hoffman was awarded today would mean a chance for Baldwinsville, NY to have not only the new beautiful updated outside appearance and look everyone would want to see, but this would also physically draw and attract the attention of businesses and residents to invest in our area, therefore increasing the employment opportunities as well as profit and growth. No one can argue with the fact that growth of an area means huge potential for all that live and work here.
A HUGE congratulations and thank you is in store for Shelley Hoffman for helping to bring positive, and beautiful change to the Baldwinsville area, all while preserving its incredible history. Shelley, you’re truly an asset to Baldwinsville, and we are forever grateful to have you!
